Review by farmhose

farmhose I’d wear a wet garbage bag for every Phish show if it’ll make them this good. The Disease and the Simple were “the way life should be” (slogan for Maine). Additionally when we got to our lakefront Airbnb 40 minutes from Bangor a neighbor came running out of his house upon our arrival to tell us that he used to be Trey’s UPS deliveryperson in VT.

aybesea Sometimes, I really don't understand the ratings that get attached to shows here on .NET. This show, in my opinion, was extremely well played and it had an outstanding second set with a bunch of really great songs and some extensive jamming.
The clear cut highlight of the first set is Bathtub Gin (SAT 143.00). While it is not a crazy type ii jam, it is certainly well played with some extra mustard on it. The second set brings us two heavily jammed standouts in Down With Disease (271.33) and Simple (264.97)... both jams worth putting on your long term mix tapes.
The overall SAT score for this show is a very respectable 1168.45 indicating the solid nature of this show... certainly better than the 3.6 currently attached to the show here at .NET.

AaronDJH Was there, so attendance bias for sure. Set 2 was surreal. It was like they would play for 15 minutes, just exploring around, and then look at each other and say, ok whats next? Like we just ripped THAT song apart, lets try again. Like they were tempting to muse....and the weather. That was the energy I was feeling...go ahead rain! We will get the hell down.

Review by FiveBranch

FiveBranch First set presented the music quite casually, with the band seeming to take their time to make sure their bearings were well grounded prior to exploring out and on into the netherlands. This is not to say that the first set should be skipped. Waves through Julius in particular has a great flow and the overall unhurried approach to the set offers a different side of Phish that is enjoyable to hear from time to time. No doubt the open air atmosphere of Darlings assumed influence.

First establishing this clean bill of health pays back gloriously in the second set as the two lengthy sojourns out of Down with Disease and Simple sculpture their respective themes into effortless rides, both being entirely unique and consistently directed. And then concluding the succession with Piper is picture perfect. Apparently the band was quite content with where they found themselves, choosing to shore up with comfortable renditions of everything else that followed. Would it have been nice to have them head out again? Of course. But that first half of the second set is just too satisfying to even hint at a grump.

s1177375 The shows that phish play in Maine are much like the ones they play in Texas they are some of the worst shows ever. The 2013 show was below average Most of the time they just skip maine and Texas completely and idk y w Maine I mean we have drummer donut dress mojo but it never adds anything and Texas I mean Politically it’s about as far on the other side of the spectrum as you can get it it’s about is red and gun toting and just the opposite of every phish fan you’ll ever meet. Like the amount of black guys you see the show I’m probably the only Republican left standing against murder of life before birth When that troop from Chicago the acting group that got up there and Trey pretended they didn’t know they were but it was really just a gag and they did a wrap our pool and then the lady just Hass to say something about women’s rights having the right to murder her unborn child just made me wanna vomit and so yeah they’re not exactly welcome in Texas anyway and but they are welcome in Maine and yet the shows in Maine are shitty too. The worst show has some of my favorite songs the next night they play lizards and Petrichor two of my favorite songs and yet the show is still terrible
