Review by TheEmu

TheEmu Love the crispy soundboard of the first set! Generally well played show, with decent versions of Llama, Buried Alive, Runaway Jim, Lizards, etc. There is a young Horn which is kind of rough and a VERY young Destiny which is not yet in its final form and is missing its signature riff. The Antelope has some transmission problems and kind of limps along in 2nd gear for the most part. As for highlights, I would say JJLC is pretty good, and the YEM, while not epic by any means, is Yemilicious and contains "Setting Sail" lyrics from Fishman at the end of the vocal jam. Overall I would say three stars, and the sound quality of the 2nd set AUD is decent, too.

thelot DSBD source available for Set 1. Set 2 is an ok audience recording. I’d guess Cass 2/3.

The recording starts out with lots of room mixed in, I thought for sure this was an audience recording, but as soon as the band begins to sing I Didn’t Know the recording levels adjust. A smoking Llama follows. The Boy, Man section has some weird feedback. Solid jam. The end of the vocal jam features Fish reciting the lyrics for the first known version of Setting Sail. The beginning of Esther has more strange feedback that was heard in YEM. The Bowie intro is pretty straightforward. The jam has some moments but never quite achieves liftoff. A nice Lawn Boy cools things down. Trey does much better tonight getting through the composed section of Horn. Oh Kee Pa>Suzy closes the first half out on a high note.

Set 2 kicks off with a strong Buried Alive>Jim pairing. Solid Stash. Tape flip after Jesus Left. The beginning of DaaM is cut. The opening to Destiny starts off differently than previous versions. Cool Antelope set closer with inspired playing in the intro, jam and Marco section. The intro had very subtle teasings of Happy Birthday and Auld Lang Syne. Well played versions of Donna Lee and Bag close out the evening.
